Welcome!

As you can see, this forum can be quiet at times. OH is a great place to research the different surgeries and what may work for you.

I wish you much success on your journey.

Good evening all!

I'm new to the site and PreOp to either RNY or the Gastric Sleeve. I don't have a date yet, but I'm shooting for November once my mandatory 12-week classes are complete in October.

I look forward to sharing with all of you.

I had surgery 04/05/2005. I have just recently checked back in. I must say the site is a little bit different than before. Still working to maintain.

Hi Brute, have any of your doctors checked for vitamin /mineral deficiencies as well as thyroid antibodies? Now I admit to not knowing much about vsg since I had rny in '05, but I do know that I came back deficient in vit D, B12, folic acid and some other things, which I have to take otc supplements for, and as well I had to start taking methylcobalamin shots (b12). You might want to have some blood work done and see of anything is out of wack. And over time I suggest you continue to get them done and compare new levels to old levels as time goes on. Dr's will just look at ranges and tell you everything is OK. You need to look at your own results and see what your body is doing over the years. Most times for wls patients, a deficiency is telling you your body needs food

Hey all, it's my first time popping back in here in years! Had my surgery in 2005, lost 250lbs, had a baby, life got busy, changed careers, lost my moms in 2012 and then in 2017, I found myself 50lbs heavier. Found I had a bunch of deficiencies too, and I swear it was making me head hungry. Once I started back on what I needed nutritionally, went back to basics and did my protein, and some walking 3days a week, 20lbs down in 5 weeks. Just incorporated my little one into the exercise routine this week. I find the support is definitely needed. Good to see everyone, old and new.

I had the RNY in 2004 and did well with my weight loss. Now I am also seeing the inches and pounds creep back on and my appetite increasing! I can't let that happen and it worries me!

Good Morning RayPhil,

It will take at least 4-6 weeks until you get your energy back. Remember, you had MAJOR surgery and the body needs time to heal. I started feeling better once I started soft foods and taking my vitamins.

Be patient and get as much rest as you can.

I wish you much success on your journey.

I am only a week post op as of today and I can say my energy levels are low. My Doctor did advise me that would happen during the 1st 3-4 weeks. I am completely just in and out, up and down. Now that I am in the full liquid phase I thought I'd be full of energy...but again my dr said don't expect that. Keep pushing, stay focused....you've got this.

Topic: Sleeve Revision to DS on 6/23/17!

Good Morning!

I am looking forward to my surgery Friday but of course nervous. Although this will be my second time around experiencing bariatric surgery, I wanted to see if anyone else has been revised from to sleeve to DS? I was initially sleeved 1/2011. I did great! After having my third child I've held on to a noticeably 30lb regain, and in short decided to look into revision options.

Hi everyone, I am almost 3 weeks out from having my sleeve. My surgeon was Dr. Morris Westmoreland in Murfreesboro, TN. So far I am very pleased with my progress so far. I really thought I would feel more active at this point, but I seem to still have some low-energy moments throughout the day. I tried to go back to work a couple of days, but decided to take a few more days off to rest. I should be good to go by next week. Anyone else have issues post-op with getting your activity and energy back?
